Greensboro, North Carolina- December 22, 2009

United American Patriots is a six year old, nationally accredited, non- partisan, non-profit organization headquartered in Greensboro, NC. UAP has been at the forefront since 2006, funding and assisting in the fair legal defenses for more than 30 American Soldiers and Marines that have been accused/ convicted of "crimes during combat". We are largely responsible for the exoneration of three soldiers, all facing life sentences. We have raised more than $1.2 million dollars, and have legal bills for these soldiers and Marines exceeding $9.2 million dollars. We are actively engaged in three different cases- Evan Vela, Michael Behenna and Frank Wuterich.

United American Patriots was able, in just the last month, to send packages of letters to our soldiers/ Marines and their families, books, bible verses, copies of letters to our President, Congress and Senate representatives on their behalf, fund costly legal defenses and appeals, financial assistance to the families and financially making sure our soldiers in prison have money in their prison accounts for phone calls home and stamps for letters, and so much more. Our organization was also recently able to send each soldier currently being represented by United American Patriots; a box filled with over 1600 Christmas cards, each filled to the maximum capacity with sentiments, notes, pictures, stories and drawings from people all across our nation- from age 5 to 97 years old. Patriotism at its absolute best!

We are requesting this incredible national display of humanity and patriotism be covered by your organization, for support not only for American soldiers/ Marines sitting in prison for "crimes during combat", but their families.

A fantastic act of generosity and American Patriotism at its best is occurring for Evan Vela’s family, in the Lawrence, KS area right now.

On December 2, 2009, our organization was contacted via email by a man, wanting to remain anonymous, from the Lawrence, Kansas area, requesting information about Evan Vela’s wife Alyssa and their two children. He had received our October 2009 newsletter- Patriot’s Voice- featuring Evan Vela’s story.

This gentleman offered to not only give a gift of $1000 cash to Evan Vela’s wife Alyssa, but also to stock, under the family Christmas tree, presents for the two children from Santa. This anonymous donor also offered to provide the Vela family a car if it was needed- all of this with no receipts, no tax deductions, and no recognition.

The donor’s only request was for United American Patriots to deliver a simple message; "I am glad that you are here to look out for my fellow troops, Thank you!! I do not want to be named or shown as I feel this shows vanity and I have enough sins without help. I would like for you to pass the message to Evan- I’m sorry that this has happened and that not all American’s have short memories."

On December 26, Alyssa Vela and her children will be meeting the gentleman donating towards her family’s Christmas at a McDonald’s in Lawrence, Kansas.

Sgt Evan Vela thankyou letter in PDF format.

United American Patriots is asking your organization to cover our story. Help us get the word out: patriotism is not dead and our Soldiers, Marines and their families are suffering and need our help.
