“Special Forces” ????

Special Forces

Misrepresentations

[Blog note: The use of the phrase “Special Forces” is becoming an all too generic term, and is now being often misused. Read below to see what I mean…

There is only ONE true – and official – “Special Forces” unit/organization in America’s Armed Forces and they are the “Green Berets”.

As a retired Marine Officer, I am not at all comfortable with our current USMC leadership referring to ANY Marine, or Marine unit, as “Special Forces”. We – the Marine Corps – have our own illustrious history and need no “knew moniker”. We are ALL “Marines” and that word, alone, says it all. Any effort to “separate” one Marine (or Marine unit) from other Marines (and Marine Units) by referring to some as “Special Forces” will only cause great harm to our beloved Corps down the road.

On the other hand, it takes away from those who have undergone the arduous training requirements to wear our nation’s GREEN BERET. It appears to this Marine that the term, “Special Forces” is desired by all…but earned by a very few…the Army’s Special Forces.

One Marine “taking care of his own”

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Friday, December 28th, 2007

12/28/07: Below received via email this morning. Interesting reading…(Thanks to Mark Shallow, USMC Ret)

This week our daughter Cathy was traveling home from college to be with us for Christmas. When she checked in at the airport in College Station (home of Texas A&M where she is a student) she found they had canceled her flight due to mechanical problems with the aircraft. Because of the Christmas holiday, available seats on other flights were almost impossible to find.

After waiting many hours and not finding any seats on other flights, things were not looking good. Alone in the airport (with the exception of workers) she didn’t know if she was going to make it home to see us. After sitting on a bench and crying in frustration an older gentleman approached her and asked what was wrong. She explained the situation. They chatted a while, and the gentleman explained he was visiting A&M to see his grandson get commissioned in the Marines.

Military Benefits “Unfair to Taxpayers”. (???)

Task Force: Military Benefits “Unfair to Taxpayers”

The DoD Task Force on the Future of Military Health Care

released its final report on December 20, and the results were pretty much as expected.

The report said the relatively low health fees paid by military retirees vs. the growing cost of military health benefits are “out of step with overall trends in the U.S. health care system” and “unfair to the U.S. taxpayer.”

The task force, co-chaired by Gen. John D.W. Corley, USAF, Commander of Air Combat Command, and economist Dr. Gail Wilensky, recommended retiree fee increases that were patterned generally after those recommended by the Department of Defense for the past two years.

“Amazing Grace”

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

NOTE TO ALL VIEWERS: many of you have missunderstood what he said in this video.

Whitley Phipps did NOT say an african american wrote the words to amazing grace. He never argued that John Newton was not an englishmen!

He just said that John Newton was a slave trader and he was. Many of us are so concentrated on black and white, we are missing the point of the whole video!!

He is trying to send out a message that God intended for all of us to be united. Weather you agree with the details or not, the message he is trying to send is a good one.

Anyone who thinks my intention is to “misinform” or to show any disregard to any race or culture obviously knows nothing about me.

This is a great video, and I admire Wintley Phipps and the work he does with prisoners and so I decided to share this with you! Of course we all agree that John Newton was in fact a slave trader.

Thats the whole point. GRACE.

That God can change the hardest of hearts within time if they’ll listen. All the other stuff, is just stuff. As far as not posting most of the ones that try to “correct” his views, it was simply to not cause a riot, the few times I have posted negative comments it caused a big debate between that person and my subscribers and especially considering this video has become so popular and so many people watch it, I wanted to avoid a big, long debate.

What if we were able to get rid of 20 million “illegals”?

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Friday, December 14th, 2007

[Blog note: From my friend John Guerrero. Although much of this is documented, I cannot account for the rest; however, I am inclined to agree with the premise]

WOW! Unbelievable!!

WHAT IF 20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS VACATED AMERICA?

By Frosty Wooldridge

Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, ‘Mexican visitor’s lament’ — 10/25/07.

She interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, ‘They (illegal aliens) pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes…what happens to your country’s economy if 20 million people go away?’

That’s a good question – it deserves an answer. Over 80 percent of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America? The answers may surprise you!

[1] In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico, it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupted hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominate language again.
