About our Fund Raising…

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Many folks have sent me emails about our fund raising activities. One area in particular addresses our Washington D.C. address.

In February of 2008, UAP entered into an agreement with a nationally know, reputable mass mailing fund raiser. HSP Direct is the name of this company. Their website is www.hspdirect.com. Our contact there is Mr. Dan Gray who has been working very close with us to raise money for our Warrior Fund project.

If you receive a direct mail solicitation, the address will be:

United American Patriots
P.O. Box 96565
Washington, D.C. 20090-6565.

This is legitimate.

We also raise funds through our website where you can go and donate.

We are also exploring many different methids to raise funds for this project, one that is for the specific and sole use of helping finance legal defense efforts for our troops accused of “committing crimes during combat actions”.

You might be interested in knowing that any money you donate to this project is a tax write-off on your tax return as we are a legitimate 501(C) 3 NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION, AND, that more than 94% of all donations received go directly to the cases we have accepted. (Our overhead is one of the smallest of any non-profit organization because UAP’s Board of Directors cover almost every penny to operate and sustain UAP).

Don’t troops have rights, too?

If you’re an al-Qaida terrorist who has participated in operations that have killed thousands of Americans, if you’ve been captured on the battlefield in Afghanistan or Iraq by members of the U.S. military and you’re lucky enough to be detained at Guantanamo Bay, you’re entitled to challenge the legality of your detention in a federal court. So say five justices of the U.S. Supreme Court.

If you’re a member of the U.S. military fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq, risking your life on a daily basis to bring to justice — or send to paradise — the jihadists and you’re accused of committing war crimes, the court of public opinion can issue an immediate verdict: Guilty.

The bare majority decision of the high court opens a legal path that could conceivably lead to enemy combatants taken prisoner in a theater of war receiving the same legal rights as American citizens, including the presumption of innocence.

Fallujah trial of former sergeant postponed

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The trial of a former Marine charged with voluntary manslaughter in the killing of two Iraqi captives in Fallujah was pushed back Monday by more than a month.

Jose Nazario, 27, is one of three Marines accused in the shooting of a group of unarmed detainees during some of the heaviest fighting of the war in November 2004.

His trial was scheduled to begin July 8, but U.S. District Court Judge Stephen Larson postponed it to Aug. 19, U.S. Attorney spokesman Thom Mrozek said.

Nazario has pleaded not guilty. Because he completed his military service, he faces charges in Riverside federal court.

Feds want Sgt. detained for contempt, again
[See blog comments at the end]

OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Less than a month after a judge released him from federal custody, a Marine Iraq combat veteran is facing the possibility of another round of confinement because federal prosecutors are unsatisfied with his answers to a federal grand jury regarding his actions during the 2004 Battle of Fallujah.

Sgt. Jermaine Nelson,26, is expected to appear before U.S. District Judge Stephen G. Larson in Riverside, Calif., an hour north of Camp Pendleton, on Tuesday, his attorney confirmed.

Federal prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Riverside will ask Larson that day to approve the government’s motion and hold Nelson again in contempt of court for failing to answer detailed questions about the alleged killings of detainees in Fallujah in a case involving his former squad leader.

The grand jury last summer indicted former Sgt. Jose L. Nazario, and the federal government then charged him with manslaughter in the deaths of several unknown males on Nov. 9, 2004, in Iraq.
