Second lawsuit filed against Congressman Murtha

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Friday, September 26th, 2008

Exonerated Marine to sue Rep. Murtha
Thursday, September 25, 2008
By Dennis B. Roddy, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

One of the Marines cleared in the killings of Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha plans to sue his congressman today for statements he says defamed him and other members of his squad.

Former Marine Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt, 24, of Canonsburg, will file a civil lawsuit against U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha, D-Johnstown, who was widely quoted two years ago saying that eight Marines carried out a cold-blooded killing of 24 civilians in the Iraqi town on Nov. 19, 2005.

Charges were later dropped against all but one of the Marines, with a military prosecutor calling allegations against Mr. Sharratt “incredible.”

Noah Geary, a Washington County lawyer representing Mr. Sharratt, said his client will file suit today in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh accusing Mr. Murtha of violating his constitutional rights as well as slander for statements about the Haditha incident. A 1:30 p.m. news conference has been planned to announce the suit.

Hero Marine Won’t Get Medal of Honor

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Hero Marine Won’t Get Medal of Honor

SAN DIEGO (Sept. 18) – A Marine sergeant singled out by President Bush for throwing his body on a grenade to save his comrades in Iraq will receive the prestigious Navy Cross rather than the nation’s highest military award, military officials said.

The family of Sgt. Rafael Peralta, who was posthumously nominated for the nation’s highest military honor, told the North County Times of Escondido, Calif., they were disappointed he was not receiving the Medal of Honor.

Update on Evan Vela – 9/14/2008

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Monday, September 15th, 2008

Folks,

I received a very welcome letter from Evan who remains incarcerated at Ft Leavenworth, written on 3 September.

He is standing tall, with his head set squarely on his shoulders.  He thanked me (and United American Patriots) for “…the money you have been sending me and especially my family…I am more grateful than you know”.

We at United American Patriots remain convinced of his innocence.  That is why we have sustained monthly disbursements to Evan’s attorney who is in a full court press with his appeals process.

The legal bills are astronomical.   There are thousands of outstanding legal fees remaining from his Courts Martial, and, many thousands more to come due as a result of the appeals process.

Therefore, if you can afford anything at all…please send you contribution to:

Government “efficiency”???

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Monday, September 8th, 2008

[Blog note: I am told this was a real letter, written to one of our goverment agencies.  I dunno...but I do believe many of you can relate...]

Dear Sir,

I’m in the process of renewing my passport, and still cannot believe this.  How is it that Radio Shack has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a t.v. cable from them back in 1997, and yet, the Federal Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date.

For Chrissakes, do you guys do this by hand?  My birth date is still the one you have on my social security card, and it is on all the income tax forms I’ve filed for the past 30 years.

It is on my health insurance card, my driver’s license, on the last eight gawdamm passports I’ve had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I’ve had to fill out before being allowed off the planes over the last 30 years, and all those insufferable census forms that are done at election times.

Would somebody please take note, once and for all, that my mother’s name is Maryanne, my father’s name is Robert and I’d be absolutely astounded if that ever changed between now and when I die!!!!!!  CRAP-OLA!

I apologize but I’m really, really ticked off this morning. Between you and me, I’ve had enough of this CRAP!
