Mom Needs Assistance To Visit Son In Ft. Leavenworth

From the President of United American Patriots:

A recent post on our FaceBook page and in our blogs regarding a special fund raising effort to get the mother (Melanie Dianiska) of Pfc Corey Clagett to travel to Ft Leavenworth to see and visit her son included several errors.

Melanie has not seen her son for more than three years. She is in very poor health and is just barely squeezing by financially. She cannot afford to go see Corey. UAP decided to ask the American people to step forward to help finance her trip.

A Personal Letter From Corey Clagett’s Mother

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

From The Desk of Melanie Dianiska

A Thank You to United American Patriots

How do I begin to say thank you to a group that came forward to help us when we were on our last breath of survival. My son Pfc Corey Clagett was about to walk alone before a Clemency Board who would judge his freedom, but it’s not just his freedom; it’s his life that is on the line. We felt we had run out of all options. Who would defend my son? Who is there to guide us? Who would be Corey’s voice? Who would try to bring my son home and give him back his life? Corey has been locked away for four years. He was just 21 and now will be 26 in July. Corey has lost a lot in his young age. Most don’t know the treatment he has been given, it you sicken you. Corey has suffered some of the darkest moments none of us could comprehend. He had almost given up on, trust, friendship, honor, justice and even life. I am his mother; I felt I was losing my son. His soul was broken and his heart was aching. I was living most of it with him. I felt his pain, his anger and his despair.  He had every right to feel this way. He joined the Army to better his future. He volunteered to put his life on the line for us all. Now he is fighting in a different war.. He is fighting against our own. If he had come back in a box he would have been a hero. Well, he is still my hero.

The Case Against Army Soldier Corey Clagett

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Thursday, April 1st, 2010

On May 9, 2006, Corey and his squad participated in Operation Iron Triangle, which took place in the dangerous Thar Thar region of Iraq. U.S. intelligence had confirmed that the area was 100% controlled by al Qaeda and was being used as a training camp. Corey and his squad were informed that the Rules of Engagement were to kill all military-aged males in the area. They were also told to expect heavy resistance because a Special Forces Unit had previously suffered casualties while in the area.

A Blackhawk helicopter dropped Corey’s squad off on an island consisting of two homes. The squad then approached one of the homes and discovered three military-aged males using two women as human shields. Corey’s squad handcuffed and detained the three men while the squad leader, Staff Sergeant Girouard, radioed Command to report the three detainees. The response was, “Why aren’t these terrorists dead yet?”

Girouard held a meeting of the entire squad. He then ordered Corey and another soldier, William Hunsaker, to kill the three detainees. Corey and Hunsaker were coincidentally the two lowest-ranked members of the squad.
