Lie Detector Prompts Marine Murder Charge

SAN DIEGO — A Marine was charged Tuesday with murder and dereliction of duty in the death of a detainee in Fallujah, Iraq, after authorities say his involvement came to light during a lie detector test for a job with the Secret Service.
Sgt. Ryan Weemer is the third person charged in the case, which centers on allegations that a Marine squad shot a group of unarmed captives during heavy fighting in November 2004.
Investigators claim Weemer, 25, described the killing during a polygraph test that included a question about whether he had participated in a wrongful death.
Weemer had completed his active duty and was in the Marine Corps’ Individual Ready Reserve until the Marine Corps reactivated him this week, said Lt. Col. Sean Gibson, a Marine spokesman. The move allows the military to court-martial Weemer.
Weemer, of Hindsboro, Ill., has been assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, while he awaits trial at Camp Pendleton. He was not being held in the brig.

Super Tuesday – We Don’t Need Painted Thumbs

Today, the field of Presidential Candidates will witness the results of their Presidential aspirations in more than 20 states. These are the states in which the Presidential primaries are being contested.
Regardless the outcome, regardless who gets X-number of delegates, one thing is certain. This “experiment” we call American Democracy is still a work in progress. American’s from every walk of life will go to the polls and cast their vote for their favorite candidate.
No car bombs, no mass killings, no hostages and no beheadings.
To be sure, every candidate is an American Patriot. And while wide and varied differences exists among the candidates, they all want what is best for our Nation. Or so they say.
This election is different in many ways from previous ones. For starters, we have a woman and a black American running serious campaigns for the highest political office in the land. This says a whole lot about America and how far we have come as a Nation. The voter turn-out is reported to be the highest in recent memory. Young Americans are stepping up to the plate in record numbers.
