Congress has blocked the possible replacement of the cracked Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery pending a study of ways to repair the existing marble monument instead.

A defense bill President Bush signed into law Monday includes an amendment to prevent replacement of the tomb pending a report to Congress. The cemetery had been leaning toward replacing the monument, which was installed in 1931, to maintain its dignity.

Black Veterans

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Sunday, November 11th, 2007

It’s a new tradition for some old leathernecks: the second annual reunion of black Marines. In reality, it’s not that old a tradition because there weren’t any black Marines before World War II.

That’s when blacks were first allowed into the Corps, but had to train at a segregated base at Montfort Point, North Carolina. Some of those old-timers joined younger Marines at the reunion in Las Vegas.

American blacks had to fight for the right to fight in segregated units in World War II. It wasn’t just the Montfort Point Marines, but also the famed Tuskegee Airmen and Buffalo Soldiers.

Blacks continued to sign up in great numbers for Korea, Vietnam and beyond.

Retired commander Gregory Black was a Navy diver for most of his 21 years in the service. In Maryland, he runs a year-old Web site, BlackMilitaryWorld.com, which chronicles what African Americans have contributed to the armed services of this country.

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Sunday, October 28th, 2007

A presentation by United American Patriots

A lot of (too many) American citizens know very about the UN Security Council. Hopefully, this small article will be passed around the internet and get the attention of American citizens before they walk into their polling both next election. So, please, do forward this page to everyone you can.

Unfortunately, the U.N. Security Council is broken. It needs immediate attention, and this has serious implications for the United States.

Congressional Gold Medal Awarded To The Dalai Lama

By Major Bill Donahue, USMC -RET | Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

From: Blog Adminstrator

In a White House ceremony today, President Bush – flanked by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Byrd [D-WVA] - presented the Congressional Gold Medal to The Dalai Lama.

This was a unique event, given the current “problems” between China and the United States.

Below, I’ve providing some on/about The Dalai Lama for your information in order the better understand the significance of this Award to The Dalai Lama:

Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and formerly the ruler of Tibet. The Dalai Lama is believed to be a reincarnation of the Buddha. When he dies, his soul is thought to enter the body of a newborn boy, who, after being identified by traditional tests, becomes the new Dalai Lama.

The first to bear the title of Dalai Lama was Sonam Gyatso, grand lama of the Drepung monastery and leader of the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect, who received it in 1578 from the Mongol chief Altan Khan; it was then applied retroactively to the previous leaders of the sect. In 1642 another Mongol chief, Gushri Khan, installed the fifth Dalai Lama as Tibet’s spiritual and temporal ruler. His successors governed Tibet—first as tributaries of the Mongols, but from 1720 to 1911 as vassals of the emperor of China.
