As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of.
Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., are where these students are protesting.
I am in charge of the English-as-a-Second-Language Dept. at a large southern California high school which is designated a
Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socio-economic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, etc., are Title1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program.

Illegal Immigrants Impact On Hospitals

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas is a fairly famous institution and for a variety of reasons:
1. John F. Kennedy died there in 1963
2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after
3. Jack Ruby-who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, died there a few years later…by coincidence
“On the flip side, Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each year. (That’s almost 44 per day—every day)
A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants. That’s
11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas
According to the article, the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding Medicaid kicked in $34.5 million, Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.

[Blog note: I have been posting info on this story since it broke. This would read like a Tom Clancy novel if it were fiction...but it isn't. In fact, this case shows just how careless - and cavalier - our government, and especially the Marine Corps, has become with the whole issue of illegal immigration. Folks, we now see unabashed infiltration of the FBI, the CIA and even the officer Corps of one of our nations finest - the USMC - by those who appear to have waged an apparent [subterranean war of terrorism?] fiat within the very soul of this nation.]

Samar Khalil Spinelli, 39, a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, pleaded guilty this past December in a Detroit federal court to conspiring with former FBI Agent and CIA employee Nada Nadim Prouty and Elfat El Aouar, the wife of fugitive restaurateur Talal Chahine, to commit citizenship fraud and passport fraud, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was joined in making the announcement by Brian M. Moskowitz, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Andrew G. Arena, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Detroit field office.

Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, ‘Mexican visitor’s lament’ — 10/25/07.
She interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, ‘They (illegal aliens) pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes…what happens to your country’s economy if 20 million people go away?’
That’s a good question – it deserves an answer. Over 80 percent of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America? The answers may surprise you!
[1] In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico, it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupted hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominate language again.
