Getting Attacked For Defending The English Language & My Country

By ProEnglishUSA | Friday, August 27th, 2010

Now that I’ve begun to research the Southern Poverty Law Center, a so-called civil rights organization in Alabama with a multi-million treasure chest (endowment), I am being labeled as a promoter of hate and a bigot.

My stance to make English the official language of our country will not be shifted or diminished!

My stance against illegal immigration and the adverse affects of such an illegal activity against our country and the American people will not be diminished!

I can take the ridicule, the attacks and the pressure and will defend myself in English!

If my fellow American brothers and sisters are dodging bullets, IEDs and other life-threatening things defending and standing up for my country across the globe, I can do my part back home to honor their sacrifices!!

Is government creating a separatist movement by suppressing the English language?

By ProEnglishUSA | Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Fascinating discussion today, albeit primary day in Florida, with a longtime friend and professor of philosophy and anthropology at Boston College. He asked to remain anonymous and I shall respect his wish.

Discussing the issue of why I support making English our official language, we began to discuss the notion that those who wish to oppose making English the official language to conduct official government business and those who wish to continue to provide translations and translated documents are actually supporting separatism.

Merriam-Webster defines “a separatist” as – A person who advocates or seeks the splitting of one country or territory into two politically independent countries or territories; Advocating or seeking the separation of one country or territory into two politically independent countries or territories.

So let’s replace territory or country with a group of people (non-English speaking). When Democrats and some Republicans, not-for-profit groups, chambers of commerce and the religious institutions support to keep translations alive are they really acting in good faith for those non-English speakers.

As they say, numbers speak volumes. So, please help me gain more supporters of the English language by sending your friends, neighbors, co-workers, family this website and ask them to join.

Our English language is as important as apple pie, Chevrolet and baseball.

thanks.

Driver’s License Exams –A MUST IN ENGLISH

By ProEnglishUSA | Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Precisely WHY English must be the sole language to administer ANY driver’s license.

Raising the standards of state-issued identification is an important step toward enhancing national security. Because a driver’s license serves so many purposes (access to federal buildings, nuclear power plants, boarding aircraft, etc.), criminals and terrorists actively seek fraudulent state-issued identification.

States that implement measures to increase their documents’ security make it more difficult for criminals to obtain these documents, while making it easier for law enforcement to detect falsified documents.

While many states have invested in improvements to their driver’s licenses and licensing processes, the lack of minimum performance standards have made it possible for criminals and terrorists to exploit jurisdictions where standards are lower and fraud is easier to commit.

[LACK OF minimum performance standards are synonymous to the gaping security holes when the exam is offered in other languages. By offering other languages, it takes away the added security measure that the applicant must interact with an English speaking DMV official.

PUERTO RICO STATEHOOD PLOY HARMS ENGLISH UNITY

Island’s governor wants statehood in immigration legislation

PUERTO RICO STATEHOOD PLOY HARMS ENGLISH UNITY

ARLINGTON, VA.— “Puerto Rico’s governor is attempting to circumvent the will of the voters of the Spanish-speaking U.S. commonwealth by urging inclusion of the divisive and expensive issue of statehood in any congressional immigration legislation,” says Jayne Cannava, executive director of ProEnglish which seeks to designate English as the official language of the United States.

“Gov. Luis Fortuno also supports H.R. 2499, which mandates a referendum by Puerto Ricans on the issue of whether the Spanish-speaking island should become the 51st U.S. state,” Cannava notes. “That stealth House of Representatives-passed bill could come up for a vote at any time in the Senate, where it could be amended to ensure a rigged pro-statehood outcome– or it could be cleverly wrapped into an amnesty bill.”

“Fortuno opposes any requirement to adopt English as Puerto Rico’s sole official language of government before statehood admission. So he naturally supports the effort to pass H.R. 2499 in the Senate and, if that fails, to slip pro-statehood language into immigration legislation,” Cannava warns. “The better path would be for the island’s voters to decide their future status on their own terms, rather than being forced by Congress into accepting statehood.”
