Supporting Candidates for Tennessee House of Representatives

By ProEnglishUSA | Thursday, July 15th, 2010

These candidates for the Tennessee House of Representatives have pledged to support the English language as Tennessee’s official language pursuant to the 1984 Tennessee state law and to support English as the sole language for the Tennessee driver’s license exam for all permanent legal residents.

The exam must be administered in English to save in excess of $ 300,000 of taxpayer dollars, to ensure all motorists can effectively communicate with each other and emergency personnel and to encourage all legal immigrants to learn English.

No government body or person shall be responsible to fund translations, interpreters in the United States of America. It is a simple matter of self-responsibility and independence to utilize God’s gift for one’s survival.

ProEnglishUSA approves this post.

New ‘Rights’ Are Wrong

By Public Forum | Monday, May 17th, 2010

Brent Batten was absolutely correct in his column of March 25 when he stated there is no right to “the fruits of another group’s labor.”

The Declaration of Independence holds that rights are “self-evident.” However, it is the failure to grasp the true nature of rights which has brought this country to its current condition. It remained for the 20th-century philosopher Ayn Rand to explicitly identify rights as “moral principle(s) defining and sanctioning a man’s freedom of action in a social context.” Rights pertain only to “freedom from physical compulsion, coercion or interference by other men. … Rights impose no obligations on (others) except of a negative kind: to abstain from violating (your) rights.”

Those who hate America should really keep their mouth shut in public

By Public Forum | Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I just ran to the store, you know the gas station kind with lunch market attached. The place was hopping with about thirty people waiting for food and pay for their items. I patiently waited in line for my turn to check out. While in line I listened to the woman in front of me, who works for LOWE’s Home Improvement by the way, discussing how she is being worked to death by her boss.

At the same time, she and I approached the two cashiers. My cashier, a young woman about nineteen years of age, who is always very polite and sweet, inquired about the black wrist bracelet I was wearing. I touched the black metal bracelet inscribed with the name, rank and date of death of a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan. I explained to the cashier that I wear it in memory of a Marine who gave the ultimate sacrifice. (Cpl. Nicholas Xiarhos, KIA Afghanistan 23July09. This Marine is the son of a dear friend of mine.)

As I finished paying the cashier, she was polite enough to extend her condolences which I accepted on behalf of my friend. Before I had a chance to walk away from the counter, the woman who was from Lowe’s, who was also finishing her transaction turned and said in a very hateful voice, “he deserved to die over there, we shouldn’t be there.” Now for anyone who knows me, they know I was keeping my temper in check. By the way, everyone in the market heard her say this, including the cop who was standing three people behind me.

God Has Raised Him To Life, And He Isn’t Here

By Public Forum | Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

As it began to dawn on the first day of the week, the crowds of people from far and near who had come to Jerusalem for the observance of the Feast of the Passover, made preparation for the return journey homeward.

Very early that morning while it was still dark, two women, Mary Magdalene and another person known as “the other Mary”, went to the tomb of Jesus with the traditional spices to anoint his body in accordance with local custom.

What they found when they arrived at the tomb left the two women “trembling and bewildered.”

As they made their way through the dark, narrow streets of Jerusalem, they pondered a profoundly troubling question: “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance to the tomb?”

When they arrived at the tomb, they were surprised; the massive stone placed in front of the tomb to seal it had been rolled away. The tomb in which the body of Jesus had been placed was empty, and the body they had come to anoint was not there.

Need your support for TN Hb 262 and SB 63

By ProEnglishUSA | Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

If Tennesseans remain ambivalent, those who come here and want to drive, will have their say and in a language other than our language!!! If you support our language of English, then contact your state of TN elected official at the Capitol.

Members of the committee asked a few questions, but the result was fantastic! This legislation needs your support if you live in the great state of Tennessee! Contact your House and Senate member telling them to pass HB 262 and SB 63.

Tell your elected official to insert the language proposed by Eddie Garcia.
The legislation NEEDS to read as follows:

All examinations administered to applicants for a driver license or intermediate driver license shall be in English; provided however that the department may administer examinations to persons eligible for a temporary license pursuant to Code Section 55-50-331 (g) in a language other than English. No person shall be permitted during his or her lifetime to renew a temporary license, permit, or photo identification license by examination in any language other than English for a total combined period of five years.
